Edna Ruth Epperson, 84, of Tyler, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at Hospice of East Texas. She was born in Tyler, May 17, 1925, to Joseph Monroe Barner and Mintie Mae Prichard Barner. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, one hour prior to service. Mrs. Epperson had lived in Tyler the past 47 years, previously living in Odessa, was a housewife and homemaker, and was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Monroe and Mintie Mae Barner; two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her loving, devoted husband of 62 years, J.D. Epperson; one sister, Doris Riddle of Tyler; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Cottrell, Mike Cottrell, Jerry Vandergriff, Gerald Fellows, Ed King and J.C. Williams.
