Bio
Vernon J. Shotkoski, 76 years, of Fremont, NE passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. Vernon was born December 12, 1935 in Boone Co., NE to Adam and Prisila (Goc) Shotkoski. He grew up in the Boon Co. area and helped on the farm prior to entering the Army. After Vernon left the service he moved to St. Edward, NE where he worked for Werner Trucking until 1970. He then moved to Fremont and worked for Bell Creek Trucking and Fremont Contract Carriers until retiring in 2004. Vernon married Linda James November 5, 1961 at St. Edward, NE. Linda preceded him in death on June 15, 2011. Vernon bowled on 2 senior leagues at 30 Bowl, was a former member of the Fremont Eagles Club, and attended First Christian Church in Fremont. Survivors include: 2 daughters, Stephany and husband Ed Condon and April Timme both of Fremont; a sister, Helen Laudenklos of Clarkston, WA; 2 granddaughters; and 1 great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife Linda; 3 brothers - Richard, Leonard and Tommy. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family or to the American Cancer Society.
