Myrtle Jane Bouma Jones Feb 13,1918-Feb 25,2001 Myrtle Jane Bouma Jones, 83, of Kimball, died February 25, 2001, at Kimball County Hospital. A funeral service was held February 26 at Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. Interment was at the Christus Gardens Cemetery in Kimball. She was born in Custer County, Neb., on February 13, 1918, to Namen Johannas Bouma and Mary Magdelena Franzen. She worked on the family farm in central Nebraska during her childhood. She also hired out to other families, often to do wall papering. In her late teens, she came to Kimball County to work for Bert and Charity Jones on their homestead north of Bushnell. On September 14, 1939, she married George Woodford "Woody" Jones. They moved to a farm one mile west of the family homestead where she assisted her husband with the farm operation. They remained on the farm until October 1990 when they moved to Kimball. She was an amateur radio "ham" operator and participated in several amateur networks. She was a member of the Amateur Radio Relay League and the Young Ladies' Relay League. She also served as a Volunteer Examiner and an Official Observer for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; her parents; one brother, Edwin Bouma; three sisters, Rachel Olson, Frances Olson and Hazel Dietz. Radio Call sign- NOØA
