Bio
Ruth Ann Edmunds, 78, of Bushnell died at her home on Monday, February 23, 2004. Funeral services were scheduled for 1:00 P. M. on Thursday, February 26th at the First English Lutheran Church of Kimball with burial to follow in the Kimball Cemetery. Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiated. Friends were able to call at the funeral home from 1 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, February 25. Cantrell Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements. Ruth was born on August 30, 1925 in Custer County, Neb. to Namen and Mary (Franzen) Bouma. She helped on the family farm during her childhood. She married C.A. "Newt" Edmunds on April 14, 1945 in Custer County. Together they operated C. A. Edmunds water well service. They lived in Egbert, Wyo. where they ranched and then in California before returning to Bushnell in 1965. Ruth also worked as a waitress at Jenny's Cafe in Bushnell for many years. Her husband died on December 16, 1986. Mrs. Edmunds was active in the Bushnell community as a member of the Moonbeams and Starlighters clubs and the Firebelles. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church of Kimball. Ruth was blessed with musical talent having learned to play by ear, and she shared her gift by playing the keyboard and piano at various nursing homes. She belonged to the Panhandle Fiddlers. When she wasn't playing music, she loved to hunt artifacts, and she was a member of the Kimball County Rock Club. Ruth is survived by her son, Charles B. and wife Phyllis Edmunds of Bayard, Neb.; brothers: Raymond Bouma of Arcadia, Neb. and Dean Bouma of Weatherford, Okla.; sisters: Betsy Nehls of Broken Bow, Neb. and Dorothy Ames of Arvada, Colo.; two grandchildren: Charles (C.J.) and wife Barbara Edmunds, and Nathan Edmunds all of Bayard, Neb.; and three great-grandchildren: Taylor Ann, Stephanie and Colt Edmunds. Mrs. Edmunds was preceded in death by her husband "Newt", parents, four sisters and one brother.
