Doyle Gene Carter (1944 - 2012) Doyle Gene Carter, 67, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Doyle's name to a veterans' organization of choice. The youngest of five children, Doyle was born Nov. 15, 1944, in Maud to the late Woodrow and Hazel Carter. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. Doyle was a member of VFW Post 0379. He retired from American Airlines after 33 years as a fleet service clerk. Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Nicky and Damon Carter; and sister, Polly Sanderson. Survivors: Loving wife of 23 years, Lana Carter; stepson, Lance Holcomb; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Woodrow Carter and wife, Billie Maire, and Bill Carter and wife, Linda; sister, Ida West and husband, Bob; mother-in-law, Vanita Read; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pat and Barbara Hollifield and Elton and Edwina Manthei; and numerous nieces and nephews.
