Bio

Wellington Leader March 4, 1965 Mrs. R. E. Mitchell, 73, died at 4:20 p.m. Monday, March 1, a few hours after being admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital. Mrs. Mitchell had lived here since 1928. Mrs. Mitchell, the former Lula Alsday Hardin, was born May 28, 1891 at Calhoun County, Mississippi. She was married to Mr. Mitchell January 15, 1910 at Hollis, MS and before coming here they lived at McAlister, OK. For a number of years after moving here, Mrs. Mitchell and her family lived in the Swearingen community and reared their family there. She was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include four sons and two daughters, Ed Mitchell and Bill Mitchell of Dallas, Ray Mitchell of Lubbock, R.E. Mitchell Jr. of Wellington, Mrs. Modine Shield of Borger and Mrs. Fay Harrison of Muleshoe. Other survivors are a brother, seven sisters, 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
