Dorothy Grace (Gubser) Semler was born August 8, 1924 in Ulysses, Nebraska to Charles J. and Daisy E. (Baumgardner) Gubser and passed away Monday, March 19, 2007, at Sunrise Country Manor in Milford, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 11 days. Dorothy was a graduate of Ulysses High School. Upon graduation, she entered Nurse's Training and graduated from Lincoln General Hospital with her R.N Certification. In Dec. 31, 1945, Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Emil Semler of Seward, and they moved to the Semler farm near Dorchester. Dorothy continued her nursing career working first at Lincoln General , later doing specialty nursing in the Dorchester and Friend communities. She was very involved in the farming operation and a dedicated mother, raising two children. Dorothy was active in the Dorchester United Methodist Women's group and volunteered as project leader for multiple Seward County 4-H clubs. She really loved to cook, bake, can and preserve garden produce-much to the enjoyment of her family and friends. Dorothy and Bob enjoyed traveling immensely. Whether they were driving their '46 Chevy to the Black Hills or cruising the Caribbean or RVing across Alaska, they loved traveling. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Daisy Gubser, brother, Glenn Gubser, sister, Mary Marr and her granddaughter, Kendra Semler.Dorothy is survived by her husband, Robert, Dorchester, her son, Roger Semler, also of Dorchester, her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Lee Quirus, Redding, CA, daughter-in-law, Connie Semler, Friend. She particularly enjoyed her grandchildren, Douglas Semler and his wife, Jessica, Friend, Matt Mather and Kelly Ockers, Laramie, WY, Barry Mather and his wife Rebecca, Boulder, CO, Carissa Semler, Omaha, and great grandson, Mason Semler of Friend, brother, Bill Gubser and Darlene Hitz of Lincoln, a sister-in-law, Marge Gubser, Lincoln, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
