☆~ VETERAN, KOREAN WAR (1950-1953) ~☆ William "Bill" Bruce Gubser, Lincoln, died August 17, 2011. Born February 9, 1931 in Ulysses, he was a graduate of Ulysses High School, attended Doan College, and was a graduate of University of Nebraska with a degree in Technical Science. Hexwas a USDA, Soil Conservation Service employee for 31 years, starting in Conrad, Montana, then Broken Bow, then Palisade, then Lexington, then Bassett, and finally to Lincoln, where he retired in 1986. Bill organized the Blackwood Watershed which is now completed and organized the North Central Nebraska Resource Conservation and Development Project in 1974. Bill was a True Big Red Husker fan from 1943 to present time. He enlisted in the US Naval Reserve and served from 1952-1954. He was active in the United Methodist Church, American Legion over 50 years, Masonic Lodge in Palisade, Lexington, and Bassett. He served two years as Master of Lodge in Bassett, was a member of Scottish Rite, member of the Shrine of Tehema in Hastings, Tangier in Omaha, and Sesostris in Lincoln, Elks BPOE 1434, Lions Club, and Soil Conservation Society of America where he served as a regional councilman 1972-1976. Survived by life companion, Darleen Hitz; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Lori Gubser, Kuwait City, Kuwait; daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Bob Fey, Muncie, Ind.; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Janna Gubser, Lincoln; grandchildren: Piilani, Pualani, Will, Jason, Stephanie and Alyssa; sister-in-law, Marge Gubser, Lincoln; brother-in-law, Robert Semler, Dorchester; and numerous nieces and nephews. Hitz family survivors, Kay(Glenn) Funk, Lincoln, Sharon (Al) Robinson, Phoenix, Marci Hitz, Winona, Minn.; grandchildren: Melissa, Carrie, Chad, Stephanie, Isaac, Jesse, Emma, Codee and four great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Glenn Gubser; sisters, Mary Marr and Dorthy Semler. Burial was in Ulysses Township Cemetery, Ulysses, NE.
