DAVID CITY - John B. Sabata, 85, of David City, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at the Butler County Healthcare Center in David City. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. The Rev. Bernard Kimminau will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery in Appleton. Visitation will be noon-5 p.m. today, with a 3 p.m. rosary, at Kracl Funeral Chapel in David City. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He belonged to a Wednesday night card club and loved playing cards at the Senior Center. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Appleton Community Center. John is survived by his wife, Martha Sabata, daughter Algene(Wayne) Sabata and son John L.(Rita) Sabata, all of David City, three sisters;Jarmilla(Joe) Hanis, Bruno, Beatrice Sabata, David City and Bernadette(Jerry) Tuma of Schuyler, six grandchildren;Theresa(John) Logan ofOsceola, Jim J.(Merrily) Schmid, Bellwood, Cody Sabata and John A. Sabata, both of David City, Mark(Kalee) Sabata of Anchorage, Alaska and Sara Sabata of Norfolk. Eight great-grandchildren;Ivy, Andy, Ethan, Violet and Holly Schmid, Lena Sabata and Jackson and Jenna Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Sylvester Sabata and three sisters:Tillie Coufal,Mildred Mastera and Rose Jisa.
