Bio

Helen Edith Smith was born March 20, 1932 in Garrett, TX to Frank & Mary (Patak) Lacik. She passed away January 28, 2012. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Samuel James (P. I.) Smith, Sr; and her son William Clyde Smith. She is survived by her son Samuel James (Jim) Smith, Jr. & wife Terri; her two grandchildren Sarah and Austin; brother Frank Lacik; sisters Hattie Brown, Mary Brown, Evelyn Barnes; half-brothers Wayne and Johnny; half-sisters Joann and Janie; 1 niece; 4 nephews. She was a wonderful and loving mother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for the Lancaster Fire Department, and she enjoyed being around people. Helen worked many years for the phone company and after her retirement, she worked at Lee's and Minyard's grocery stores in Lancaster. Helen will be greatly missed by her family and friends, expecially the many hugs that she loved to give and receive. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is in heaven with her Savior and, no doubt, she is giving and receiving many, many hugs.
