DUNGANNON, Va. Monnie Stallard Harris, 92, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012. Born Dec. 18, 1919, in Coeburn, Va. She attended Dungannon Freewill Baptist Church, a Homemaker, also was an avid quilter and loved to work in her garden. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Stallard and Minerva Bond Stallard; husband, Sherman B. Harris; four brothers, Mondell Stallard, Malcolm Stallard, Landrith Stallard, Hurley Stallard; and two sisters, Madolin McCoy, Reva Baker. Ms. Harris is survived by her daughter Peggy Lane, of Weber City, Va.; two granddaughters, Whitney Berry and husband, Zach, of Dungannon, Katie Beth Lane, of Nickelsville, Va.; one great-granddaughter, Emery Kate Berry, of Dungannon; one step-daughter, Joyce Gross, of Coeburn, Va.; one step-son, Larry Harris, of Wise, Va.; four step- grandchildren; one brother, Thurston and wife, Agnes Stallard, of Coeburn; one sister-in-law, Lois Stallard, of Coeburn; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va. and other times at Peggy's home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Collins and the Rev. Jerry Hall officiating. Music provided by Sabra Collins and Jennifer Starnes Graveside services will be Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. Holston View Cemetery, Weber City. Family will meet at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.
