Obituary Thurston Grey Stallard (Died August 21, 2014) Coeburn, Virginia August 22, 2014 Thurston Grey Stallard 89, went to be with The Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at his home. He was a member of the Community Freewill Baptist Church and the Coeburn VFW Post #8652. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Marias in the Pacific Theater. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes J. Stallard; his parents, George & Minerva Stallard; five brothers, Landrith, Malcolm, Mondell, Hurley and Quentin Stallard; three sisters, Madeline McCoy, Reva Baker and Monnie Harris. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Bob Banner of Castlewood and Rita and James (Buzzy) Hicks of Coeburn; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 23, 2014 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, Virginia. Funeral Services will follow at 8 P.M. in the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel Coeburn with Pastor Wayne Perry officiating. Military Graveside services will be conducted 3 P.M. Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Temple Hill Memorial Park Castlewood, Virginia with the Local VFW Members and Virginia National Guard conducting services. The family and friends will meet at 2 P.M.
