Emma Jean Barker (1922 - 2012) Emma Jean Barker, 89, went to be with her Savior on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Burleson. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ouachita Baptist University, 410 Ouachita St., Arkadelphia, Ark. 71998. Emma Jean was born in Poteau, Okla., on Oct. 17, 1922, to Thomas C. and Johnnie Donathan. She married the love of her life, Trozy Barker, on Sept. 9, 1950. In 1960, they moved to Fort Worth, where Emma Jean served as secretary to Dr. John Earl Seelig of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She later served as secretary to Dr. Robert E. Naylor, then president of the seminary, for over 25 years. Emma Jean lived a life of service to her family and friends and to her Savior. She will be missed by many friends and extended family members. Survivors: Sister, Janice Moser of Kansas; children, Julie Cook and husband, Sam, of Burleson, Ted Barker and wife, Deb, of Carrollton and Jan Barker and wife, Lynn, of Fairfax, Va. She also loved her grandchildren, Michelle Bell and husband, Brian, of Hot Springs, Ark., Heidi Jansen and husband, Mark, of Little Rock, Ark., Jonathan Cook of Burleson, Ashley Cook of Encino, Calif., Greg Barker of Nashville, Tenn., and Ryan Barker of Fairfax, Va. She adored her great-grandchildren, (her babies) Brooks and Maddox Bell and Abigail and William Jansen. Published in Star-Telegram on January 18, 2012
