Dr. Trozy Ray Barker died peacefully on Friday morning, Jan. 29, 2010. Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Burleson. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Trozy was born on Nov. 7, 1919, in Jonesboro, La. As World War II broke out, he joined the Army Air Corps. He bravely and proudly served as a member of the 1st Fighter Group in a P-38 squadron. Trozy served in the European theater and participated in the North African invasion. He returned to Ouachita Baptist University where he played basketball and football and completed his degree in 1949. After graduation, he joined the Air Force and served his country for 11 additional years. He married the love of his life, Emma Jean, in 1950. He entered Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1961. Upon graduation from the seminary, he served as dean of men at SWBTS until his retirement in 1994. Survivors: He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Emma Jean; children, Julie Cook and husband, Sam, Ted Barker and wife, Deb, Jan Barker and wife, Lynn; grandchildren, Michelle Bell and husband, Brian, Heidi Jansen and husband, Mark, Jonathan Cook, Ashley Cook, Greg Barker and Ryan Barker; great-grandchildren, Brooks and Maddox Bell, Abigail and William Jansen; and four sisters.
