Published in the Big Spring Daily Herald on Sunday, October 27, 1968: Charles A. Key, Vealmoor Farmer Charles Ashley Key, long-time farmer in the Vealmoor community, died at his home at 8:30 Saturday morning following an illness of some months. He was 73. Services are to be at 2 p.m. Monday at the River-Welch Chapel, and burial will be in the City Cemetery. Mr. Key resided 16 miles north of the city on the Vealmoor Road. Born in Erath County, April 2, 1895, he was married in Lingleville, Tex., to Maudie Gillihan. They moved to Colorado City in 1922, and then on to Howard County in 1934. Mr. Key was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors are the widow; one son, Raymond Key of Big Spring; two daughters, Mrs. Jewel Adams, Ackerly, and Mrs. Maxine Zant, Vealmoor; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
