William E. Shumbera son of John and Frances Shumbera.William E. Shumbera married Dorothy Malek on May 3,1954. _____________________ Wm. Shumbera Services Held On Sept.23 William E. Shumbera,81,Weimar,died on Sept.21 from cancer while at the Colorado-Fayette Medical Center. Services were held Monday,September 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church,with Father John Bily officiating. Mr.Shumbera was born May 13,1915,in Colorado County,to John and Frances (Macha) Shumbera. He attended school in Weimar,and married Dorothy Malek on May 3,1954,in St. Andrews,Hillje,Texas.He was employed as a Southern Pacific Railroad Clerk and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr.Shumbera served in the 926 Signal Battalion from April 15,1942 to October 12,1945;was over seas for two and a half years during World War II,and was the recipient of five Battle Stars.He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW. Mr.Shumbera is survived by his wife Dorothy Shumbera;sons,David Shumbera and wife Nancy of Houston;and Mark Shumbera of Houston;a daughter,Karen Lane and husband Scott of Plano;and one grandson,Matthew Lane. Pallbearers were Clarence Shumbera,Ernest Opella,Mike Sharp,Ike Ermis,Joe Flaherty and Daniel Ulricht.Acolytes were Clayton Janecka and Jack Janecka. (condensed) Weimar Mercury,October 3,1996,p.2
