Koranda, age 83, of Wahoo, NE died Tuesday September 27, 2011 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. She was born May 11, 1928 in Rural Colon, NE to James and Maymie (Chmelka) Hula. Gladys attended District School #70 northwest of Wahoo before graduating from Malmo High School in 1946. Gladys loved to play bingo, travel and go camping. She also enjoyed crocheting. On May 3, 1955, Gladys was married to Frank J. Koranda at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Wahoo, NE. They lived in rural Saunders County until moving to Wahoo in 1962. Gladys worked as a housekeeper and cook for the Saunders County Poor Farm, as a telephone operator for the Lincoln Telephone Company, for many years as a waitress at the Fairview Café in Wahoo and for a short time as a housekeeper at the Saunders County Hospital. She was a life time member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, son in law, David "Nick" Holmes, and brothers in law, Dennis Novacek, Rudy Ludvik. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Frank J. of Wahoo, NE, children and spouses, Steve and Diann Koranda, Karen Holmes, Dwayne and Liz Koranda, Frank A. and Deb Koranda, all of Wahoo, Cheryl Needham of Victorville, CA. 19 Grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sister, Lillian Ludvik of Wahoo, brother, Ray Hula of Colon, NE, sister in law, Adeline Novacek of Omaha, NE, brothers in law and spouses, Leonard and Margo Koranda of Wahoo, Bob and RoseAnn Koranda of Prague, NE, many other relatives and friends.
