Gonzales Inquirer Dec. 7, 1954 John Piwetz Rites Set for Thursday Last rites are to be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Catholic church for John Piwetz, who died at the Holmes Memorial hospital at 1 p.m. Monday after a long illness. The final services will be preceded by a brief service at the home with rosary to be recited at the home Wednesday evening at 8:30 o'clock. Interment will be in the St. James cemetery with the pastor, the Rev. Joseph Mathey in charge. Piwetz was born on June 19, 1887 in Fayetteville, Texas, moving later to Runge where the family made their home before coming to Gonzales where they had lived for many years. He was married to the former Anna Sladek some 48 years ago, and was a member of the St. James Catholic church. The body will be brought here to his home by Buffington about 11 a.m. Wednesday for the Thursday service. Survivors include his wife, two sons, John Jr., this city; and L. J. Piwetz. Lockhart; two daughters, Mrs. Willie Mae Hranicky and Mrs. Helen Keeton this city; two grandchildren, Bill and Ann Miller, Gonzales; one sister, Mrs. Julia Miller of Stamford, and one brother, E. T.
