ALLAN DALE KOLBO June 29, 1932--------Jan. 2, 2012 Allan Dale Kolbo, 79, of Silver Springs, MD, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 at Bethesda Rehab Center following a stroke. No services were held and burial will be at a later date. He was born June 29, 1932, at Lodi, Nebraska to Rudolph and Bessie (Otto) Kolbo. Allan graduated from Callaway High School and earned a bachelor degree from the University of Nebraska. He was in the U.S. Army Medical Corps 1954-1956. Most of his tour was in Germany. He spent three years with the U.S. Soil and Conservation Service and the returned to the University of Nebraska to earn a masters degree in geography. Receiving a research assistantship from the the University of Maryland, he enrolled there to earn a PhD in geography in 1972. Allan taugh at several universities and colleges in Maryland and Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents. Allan is survived by his brothers, Sidney and wife Susan of Grand Island, Raymond and wife Shirley of Callaway; many nieces and nephews.
