Sidney Earl Kolbo, 87, of Grand Island died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Pastor Todd Bowen will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Sidney was born Dec. 31, 1925, at home in Lodi to Rudolph and Bessie (Otto) Kolbo. Sidney graduated in 1943 from Callaway High School. After graduation, he went to auctioneer school, graduated and started practicing his trade when he stopped and farmed with his dad briefly on a farm in Broken Bow. But times were hard and they moved to the current family homestead in Callaway. He did military service for his country from 1954-1955, serving during the Korean conflict, and he returned home from there. He retired from Swift following 23 years of service. He was joined together in marriage to the love of his life, Marybeth Susan, on Dec. 22, 2000, at Stuhr Museum's Lesher House. The 12 years they shared were full of love, laughter and devotion to one another. Sid loved his home, which he shared with his wife, two cats, Judy and Jasmine, and one dog, Geb, whom he loved much. Sid loved to work outdoors and was affectionately known for keeping his lawn in prime condition. He enjoyed light travels around the state and keeping up with farming news, the weather and current news around Grand Island. He enjoyed breakfasting at Pam's in the morning, visiting with the other gentlemen there, and catching up on the latest news. He attended Grace Covenant Church in Grand Island.
