Services were held recently for Mattie Eubanks, 97, former Pampa and Mobeetie resident who died Sept. 1, 1986. Final services were conducted by Rev. George Haase and Rev. Win Mae of East Side and Grantway Assembly of God churches. Interment was at East Lawn Cemetery in Tucson beside her Husband. She was born April 16, 1889, at Texarkana, Tx. She married John Eubanks in 1903; he died in 1956 while the couple was on vacation in California. They have lived near Temple, Okla., until moving to Mobeetie in 1915, where they lived the greater part of the next 30 years. In 1947 they sold their home in Old Mobeetie and moved to Pampa. After her husband's death, she moved to Phoeniz, Ariz, and then to Tucson in 1965. While residing in the Mobeetie area, the Eubanks family lived in two houses that later became historical landmarks. In 1921 their seventh child, Mildred, was born in the Old Rock House on Sweetwater Creek. During the early and mid-1930's they lived in the Old Jail in Old Mobeetie, which was owned for many ears by Mrs. Eubanks' parents, Joseph and Betty Love, who both died there in 1925. Survivors include five daughters, Ann Wester, Hemet, Calif, Opal Hughs and Pauline Hays, both of Tucson, Mildred Bonca, South Gate, Calif. and Dorothy Edelson, Cypress, Calif.; six sons, Cecil Eubanks, Wheeler, Tx.,Lloyd Eubanks, Glenwood, NM, Farris Eubanks, Conroe, Tx.,John Eubanks, Phoenix, Walter Eubanks, Arcadia, Calif, and Joe K Eubanks, Glooucester, NJ; 35 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 41 great-great-grandchildren. At the time of Mrs. Eubanks' death there were five sets of five-generation families.
