Sylvester Weidner 1926-2012 Mr. Sylvester G. Weidner, 85, of LaPorte, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Golden Living Center, LaPorte. He was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Humphrey, NE, to Ferdinand and Agnes (Brandl) Weidner. He had lived in the area for 55 years, coming from East Moline, IL. Mr. Weidner was a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a usher at the church. On May 8, 1946, in Humphrey, he married Rita Mae Labenz, who preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cathy Kieffer; two grandsons, Ryan McEnterfer and Hoyt Huskey Jr.; five sons, Sylvester Jr., Gerald, Joseph, Ricky and Jimmy Lee; and five brothers, Evold, Luke, James, Morris and Art Weidner. He is survived by six daughters, Linda (Hoyt) Huskey of Brighton, MI, Sandy (Jim) Menne of LaPorte, Judy (Neal) West of Michigan City, IN, Lois (John) Diedrich of LaPorte, Debra (Roger) Bedwell of Noblesville, IN, and Sherry (Roger) McEnterfer of Westville, IN; two sisters, Lucille Sand of Humphrey and Beulah Murphy of Orion, IL; two brothers, Charles Weidner of Columbus, NE, Ferdinand Weidner, Jr. of Humphrey; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass wil be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte, on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 10 a.m. with Rev. David Kime officiating. Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Friday, Jan. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, LaPorte, at a later date.
