Lexington Funeral services for Paul Traves Kratzer, 86, of Lexington, will be held Thursday, May 11, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with Rev. Cathy Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Lomax Cemetery at Eddyville. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2000, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Paul died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. He was born March 24, 1914, in Litchfield to William Traves and Jeanette Driskell Kratzer. Paul attended school and spent his youth in the Litchfield area. He married Thelma Ione Bell Sept. 23, 1938. They lived on farms in Dawson and Custer Counties until 1962 when they moved to Lexington. Paul worked for the City of Lexington in the Street Department until his retirement in 1979. Paul enjoyed fishing, baseball games, yard and garden work, but mostly loved being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a kind, loving and giving father and grandfather. Survivors include: two sons, Rodney and Phyllis Kratzer of Lexington and Ronald and Linda Kratzer of Broken Bow; grandchildren, Mike and Lila Kratzer of Lexington, Ken Kratzer of Lexington, Jennifer and Paul Chapman of Lincoln, Scott and Staci Kratzer of Kearney and Brett and Heather Kratzer of Kearney and three great-granddaughters, Pam and Lindsay Kratzer of Lexington and Natalie Jo Kratzer of Kearney. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Thelma Ione in 1989; an infant daughter, Florine; his parents; three sisters and six brothers. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
