Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, 7 Apr 1960 EDWARD F. SPOHN RITES HELD HERE LAST WEDNESDAY Funeral services for Edward F. Spohn, a Holyoke resident for many years, were conducted at 9:30 a.m. last Wednesday, March 30, at St. Patrick Church here, with Rev. John C. Welsh officiating. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. Mr. Spohn passed away Friday evening, March 25, at the Phillips County Hospital after a short illness. He was 79 years of age. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home. A son of John and Thresa Spohn, Edward Francis Spohn was born February 16, 1881, at Utica, Nebraska, where he grew to manhood. He was the eldest in a family of nine children. He was preceded in death by two brothers who died in infancy. On January 14, 1908, Mr. Spohn was united in marriage to Mary T. Mayer, who passed away on March 31, 1956. Mr. and Mrs. Spohn established their home at Utica, Nebraska, where they resided until coming to Colorado on December 13, 1913. Survivors include two sons, Fred and Lawrence M. Spohn, Holyoke; two daughters, Mrs. Alma Holloway, Holyoke, and Mrs. Clara Vernon, Hugo, Colorado; three brothers; three sisters, and eight grandchildren. Out-of-town relatives who attended the funeral were A-2c Howard T. Holloway, Red Bluff, California; J.W. Spohn and Mr. and Mrs. Merle Runquist, Osceola, Nebraska; Wilfred Spohn, Genoa, Nebraska; Bernard Mayer, Delmont, South Dakota; Peter J. Mayer, Dimock, South Dakota; Harvey Mayer, Mitchell, South Dakota, and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Vernon, Hugo, Colorado.
