Roth (#47864882) for providing the following information for John Spohn: The Utica Sun Thurs., Nov. 11, 1943 P. 5 John Spohn John Spohn was born in Hamburg, N. Y., October 15, 1850 and died at his home in Utica, Nebr., November 3, 1943 at the age of 93 years and 18 days. He moved to Maytown, Illinois, at the age of 18 years. He was united in marriage to Theresa Schmehr at Maytown on January 13, 1879 and with his wife came to Nebraska in February of that year. To this union nine children were born, two of them having preceded them in their infancy. The seven children who mourn his loss are: Edd of Holyoke, Colo.; Henry of Lincoln, Colo.; Walter of Long Beach, Calif.; Lourena of Santa Monica, Calif.; Mrs. Wm. Crapenhoft of Grand Island, Nebr.; Joe and Mrs. F. A. Rau of Utica; ten grand children, two brothers, Andrew Spohn of Ohio, Ill.; Barney Spohn of Ohio, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Tony Walters and Mrs. Lena Fahr of Ohio, Illinois. Mr. Spohn lived on a farm two miles south of Utica until 1908, when he and his wife moved to Utica, where he lived until the time of his death. Mr. and Mrs. Spohn celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on January 13, 1929. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Fr. Kahn officiating. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery. Out of town relatives attending the funeral services were: Mrs. Mary Spohn, Geneva; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Spohn Jr., Friend; Mr. and Mrs. Casper Spohn, Friend; and Mrs. Anna Schmehr of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska.
