Helget, age 90, died Friday, December 30, 2011 at her home in Dighton, Kansas. She was born April 13, 1921 at Beaver Crossing, Nebraska the daughter of William and Rosa (Smith) Earl. Mary grew up and attended schools in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska. She married Peter P. Helget on December 28, 1939 at Beaver Crossing, Nebraska. He died on August 29, 1992. She moved to Dighton in 1941 and was a homemaker. Her special love was taking care of children in the community by baby sitting and being there for them. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and being a Rotary Martha. Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church of Dighton. Survivors include son, David Helget of Hugoton, Kansas; daughter, Joyce Roberts of Shields, Kansas; three sisters, Dorothy Myer of Glendale, Arizona, Dorris Harris of Tampa, Florida, Margaret Sharp of Nashville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Melinda Helget, Stacy Powers, Rebecca Romero, Stephanie Horning; three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Lester Earl, Howard Earl, Harold Earl; two sisters, Ellen Frisby and Edith Wambold.
