Willie Von ‘Bill' Kilgo Services for Willie Von "Bill" Kilgo, 74, of Bremen were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001 at Ryan's Creek Baptist Church, the Rev. Delwin Kilgo officiated, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body lay in state one hour prior to the service. Williams-McCracken Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kilgo died Friday, Sept. 28 at his brother's residence. He was born Oct. 8, 1926 in Bremen to John Jerry and Minnie Idella Calvert Kilgo. He was a carpet store owner in Birmingham, ballroom dance instructor at Jefferson State Junior College, and a veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Chehalis, the USS Hector and the USS Kishnaukee. Survivors include a son, Phillip M. Kilgo of Bremen; two grandchildren, Brett Ainsley Kilgo and Tyler Grayson Kilgo, both of Fairfax, Va.; two brothers, N.D. Kilgo of Huntsville and John H. Kilgo of Crane Hill; and four sisters, Grace Ogletree of Mt. Olive, Edith Doubleman of Forestdale, Nettie Heatherly of Welti and Ruth Clark of San Francisco, Calif. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alacare Hospital. Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday.
