Bio

CULLMAN — Nettie Ellen Kilgo Heatherly A celebration of the life of Nettie Ellen Kilgo Heatherly, 90, of Welti, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, Randy Sellers officiating, with interment in Welti Cemetery. Nettie surrounded by family, died peacefully, just as she lived her life. She went to be with her Lord and reunite with her many loved ones, and dear friends on Tuesday, Jan. 25. Nettie was born in Bremen and lived there until she married Limas Edward Heatherly. They moved to Welti where she fell in love with the Welti community, the people and the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a loyal member for over 70 years where she participated and volunteered for anything and everything that needed her help. She loved to sing and was a member of the choir for as long as she was physically able. She loved her Sunday School class and only missed if out of town. She lived life to the fullest possible extent and was very proud to be from Welti Alabama. She was many things to many folks but first and foremost she was a caretaker. She took care of everyone she knew, and even some folks that she didn't. Nettie held various positions to include lunchroom lady at Welti Elementary cafeteria and housekeeper at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab Center. After her children left the nest, she and her dear friend, Eleanor Bonner, went to Wallace State Community College, where she received her home health care certification. She was employed as a home health care aide and traveled the county providing care for those who where unable to care for themselves. In addition, while holding these positions, she was also the primary caretaker for her mama and papa for eight years. Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, Limas Edward Heatherly; her parents, John Jerry and Minnie Idella Calvert Kilgo; her son, Larry Edward Heatherly; a grandson, Quinton Ray Heatherly; four brothers, J.C. Kilgo, E.E. Kilgo, Novie Kilgo and Willie Kilgo; and two sisters, Edith Doubleman and Ebbie Kilgo. She is survived by four children, Ebbie Janet Heatherly (Roger) Larsen, Kathy Heatherly (John) Johnson, Elwin (Sue) Heatherly and Fred Heatherly; two sisters, Ruth Clark and Grace Ogletree; a brother, John H. Kilgo; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one-plus million Friends. Although there are no words to describe how much we miss her, we know she is in a better place, at rest and saving a place for the rest of us. Rest in peace our sweet, beautiful, precious mother. We love you and are so blessed to be yours. Source: Cullman Times
