Bio

Frank's mother was Mariana Moris. She died Aug 31, 1872 most likely in Czechoslovakia. FRANK KOLIBA Victoria Advocate, 31 Aug 1938, page 1 FRANK KOLIBA IS BURIED AT SHINER; LIVED IN PLACEDO Funeral services for Frank Koliba, 67, former resident of Placedo, were held at the home of his son, Ed Koliba, in Hochheim last Saturday, it was learned here today. Mr. Koliba passed away last Thursday. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1871, he came to America in 1880 and settled in Lavaca County. In 1909 he moved to Hochheim and later to Shiner. From Shiner he moved to Placedo. Since the death of his wife, in January of 1927, he had lived with his children. He had been in bad health for the past three years. Funeral services were conducted by Anton Smykal of Guadalupe. At the S. P. J. S. T. Cemetery in Shiner, where interment was made, Stephen Valcek of Houston officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Henry Koliba, Charlie Balusek, John Baros, Val Chilek, Raymond Malina and Joe Ermis. The deceased is survived by three sons, Ed and Jerry Koliba of Hochheim and Adolph of Placedo; three daughters, Mrs. Lillie Matus of Shiner, Mrs. Vlasta Baros and Mrs. Emilie Ondrusek of Placedo; one sister, Mrs. Louisa Janca of Waelder; three half-brothers, Louis and Henry Koliba of Corpus Christi and George Koliba of Hochheim; and six grandchildren. Frank Koliba's marker shows he was born 25 Jul 1871 and died 25 Aug 1938. He's buried next to his wife, Anna. Contributed by Matt Cross
