Bio

Cisco -- Carey Hightower, 86, died Friday evening at a Ft. Worth hospital. Services will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Chambers-Wilcox with burial following at the Burkett Cemetery. Carey was born on June 2, 1917 to Draper and Blanche Hightower at Mt. Vernon, Texas. Carey grew up and entered the Calvary of the U.S. Army n 1936 later transfering to the Air Corps during WWII. He was discharged as a Staff Sargent in 1945. He married Mary Strickland on June 1, 1946 in Big Spring, TX. Carey was a Grocery Man, he worked in several stores before becoming a Manager. He came to Cisco in 1970 to manage the JRB food store which later became, Thrift Mart where he worked until his retirement. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Carey is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary of the Home; one son, Carey Wayne and wife, Avonda of Ft. Worth; one daughter, Kathy and her husband, Fred Rush of San Antonio; a sister, Blanche Kinder of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
