Bio

John Henry Egnew, 87, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away on Friday (Jan. 6, 2012) in a Weatherford nursing facility. He was born on Oct. 18, 1924 in Spencer County, Indiana to John Anthony and Stella Virginia Dunn Egnew. He was preceded in death by his former wife and the mother of his children, Jessie Lee Egnew in 1999; wife, Lola Mae Egnew in 2001 and his grandson Thomas Black in 1992. He is survived by his daughter, Caryn Alton and husband Larry of Weatherford, Texas; son, John L. Egnew of Largo, Florida; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Minneapolis during World War II.
