Funeral services for Dorothy I. Haney, age 85, of Prairie City, will be 10:30am Friday, December 16, at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bison. Fr Brian Fawcett will officiate with burial in the Hettinger Cemetery. Serving as Honorary Casketbearers are Duane Engraf, Allen Engraf, Wayde Engraf, Collin Engraf, Greg Deitz, Chris Deitz, Howard Alexander, Cliff Engraf, and Kelly Copeland. Active Casketbearers are Doug Engraf, Dan Engraf, Todd Fink, Allan Burrer, Chuck Spangler, and Stanley Brixey. Dorothy I. Molitor was born July 16, 1920 in Adams County, ND north of Lemmon to Phillip and Ada (Bunn) Molitor. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Lemmon. She was married to Valentine Hoff and they lived in Lemmon where Dorothy worked at area restaurants. They had three children, Edward, Rea and Eileen. Dorothy then married George Longpre in 1945. They lived in Newell where she worked in a restaurant and then she moved to Hettinger. Mr. Longpre was killed in an auto accident in 1954. On September 30, 1957, Dorothy married Harold Haney at Grand Forks, ND. Dorothy worked as a clerk at the sales barns in Lemmon and Hettinger for many years and operated a farm and ranch east of Prairie City. She also worked as a nurses aide at the hospital in Hettinger for many years. Dorothy passed away at her home on December 12, with her family at her side. She was an excellent seamstress and bridge player. Surviving family members include her husband, Harold, Prairie City, SD; 1 son, Edward (Virginia) Hoff, San Diego, CA; 2 daughters, Rea (Howard) Alexander, Spokane, WA; Eileen (Clifford) Engraf, Hettinger, ND; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Eva Davison, Lemmon, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, Raymond, Roland, Maynard, Edward, Arnold, and Donald Molitor; and 1 sister, Marie Wagner. Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger and on Friday one hour prior to services at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bison.
