Bio

Albert Janicek was born on April 4, 1900 in Butler County, Nebraska, the son of Adolph Janicek and Lucy (Seberger) Janicek. They lived near the Platte River close to Bellwood, Nebraska. Albert's grandparents, Frank Janicek Sr. and Karolina (Hermethora) Janicek and their seven children came from Austria. Helen (Kirchner) Janicek was born in Butler County, Nebraska on September 9, 1900, the daughter of John J. Kirchner and Sophia F. (Kreizinger) Kirchner. Helen's father John J. Kirchner was born in Cechan, Austia and migrated to the United States in 1879 at age 11. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1914. Helen's mother, Sophia F. Kreizinger was born in Butler County, Nebraska in 1877. Albert and Helen were married August 28, 1923 at Bellwood, Nebraska, and started their life on the Janicek farm in Butler County, Nebraska. In spring of 1926 Albert came to Kimball, County, Nebraska and broke sod to seed his first wheat crop. The family moved out west in the Spring of 1927. They arrived here in a Ford. Albert and Helen had 11 children: Alberta, Donald, Dale, twins David and Daniel, Richard "Dick", Derald, Carolee, Patricia, Duane, and Elizabeth. Albert and Helen shared 60 years of married life, and were fortunate to have oil discovered on their land in 1955. In 1978, Helen's health started to fail and she resided in the Kimball County Manor until her death on December 19, 1984. Albert and his daughter Betty died December 30, 1983 when he accidentally left the car running in the attached garage and fumes from the exhaust filled the home at 713 S. Marion Street in Kimball, and they were asphyxiated.
