Ronald F. Kuzelka, 75 of Omaha, formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Hospice House in Omaha after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Ron was born Feb. 21, 1936, at De Witt, NE. to Frank and Marie (Soukup) Kuzelka. On Sept. 10, 1957, he married Theresa Yindrick. Survivors are: wife of 54 years, Theresa Kuzelka; children and their spouses, Mark and Kedran Kuzelka of Omaha, Debra and Tim Holzfaster of Paxton, Dawn and Paul Mallette of Fort Collins, Colo. and Rhonda and John Weyenberg of Lincoln; brothers, Loren Kuzelka of Lincoln and Allen Kuzelka of Hastings; and sisters, Joyce Rezac and Lavonne Behne, both of Brainard; grandchildren, Adam Mallette, Ashley Mallette, Dylan Kuzelka, Dustin Kuzelka, Caurie Kuzelka, Spencer Holzfaster, Jordan Holzfaster and Taylor Holzfaster; and great-grandchildren Bradley, Jacob and Samantha Mallette. His parents preceded him in death. Ron was raised at Brainard where he attended Holy Trinity and graduated from Brainard High School in 1954. He received his accounting degree from Commercial Extension Business College of Omaha. The couple lived in Council Bluffs before making Grand Island their home in 1961. Ron worked for Sherwin-Williams Company in Council Bluffs and Grand Island until 1966 as a credit manager. He then went to work for Sperry New Holland in Grand Island in 1966 and retired in 1992 after 26 years of service. Following his retirement he worked part-time for Merrick Machine, Wanek Pharmacy and Certified Display Systems. In addition to his membership at St. Leo's and more recently St. Stephen the Martyr in Omaha, Ron was a member of Knights of Columbus and Central Nebraska Purchasing Association. Ron's favorite free-time activities were his woodworking, golf, following his children's and grandchildren's activities, traveling, playing pool and Nebraska football. He, along with Theresa, did many do-it-yourself projects including remodeling many rooms in their own home and building items for their children and grandchildren. Burial was in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on December 18, 2011
