James Wilmer Keebaugh July 24, 1915-May 12, 2006 James Wilmer "Hook" Keebaugh, 90, died Friday, May 12, 2006, at his home at Alliance, Nebraska. He is survived by his son, James C. Keebaugh of Aberdeen, Washington; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Greg Kloch of Lexington, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jeffery Kloch of Boston, Massachusetts, Chris Kloch of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kelly Kloch of Lexington, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, seven sisters, and three brothers. James Keebaugh was born July 24, 1915, at Newport, Nebraska, to Charles O. and Anna (Stolepart) Keebaugh. He attended school at Newport and graduated in 1934. Upon graduation he attended Doane College at Crete, Nebraska, and later attended Chadron State College at Chadron, Nebraska. After college he had several positions before becoming manager of and later buying F&M Bootery in Alliance. He sold the store in 1952 and purchased the Famous Clothing Store where he continued until he sold the store in 1982 and retired. During his ventures in business in Alliance he was a member and past president of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce, a past member and past president of the Kiwanis Club, and a past member and past president of the Alliance Board of Education. He was a member of the United Methodist Church where he was active in ushering and on various other committees. Bro. Keebaugh became a member of Alliance Lodge No. 183 in 1949 and served as Worshipful Master in 1958. He joined the Alliance Scottish Rite in 1951, received the rank and decoration of Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 1961, was coroneted a 33° Inspector General Honorary in 1971, and received the Grand Cross in 1999. In 1984 he was elected Secretary of the Alliance bodies and served in that position until his death. He was a member of the York Rite, Shiloh Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine, a DeMolay advisor from 1963 through 1976, a member of Tehama Shrine Temple, and Aloyah Chapter No. 185, Order of the Eastern Star.
