Funeral services for Douglas Lynn Martin, 90, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Lewis, the Rev. Tommy Johnston and the Rev. Mark Bryant officiating. A military graveside service under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition will be held at Posey Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Massey, Weldon Glossup, Jamie Brice, Patrick LeMoine, Jerry Freeman, Danny Evans, Zack King and Jackie Boles Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the Busy Men's Bible Class, J.D. Holder, Red Ferrell and Ray Ferrell. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Douglas Lynn Martin passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 13, 2011, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Peerless May on 8, 1921, the son of Arch Martin and Virgie (Beadles) Martin. He married Gleen Dell Kelley in Sulphur Springs on April 13, 1946. She survives. Mr. Martin was a retired dairyman. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze stars and the overseas service bar. Other survivors include one daughter, Mary Boles and husband, Jackie, of Sulphur Springs; three grandchildren, Jackie Boles Jr. and wife, Britnee, Kelli King and husband, Zack, and Shaunda Knight and husband Joe; five great-grandchildren, Natalie Lynn Perry, Jacie Kaye Boles, Mattie Lynn Boles, Jodi Virgel and Brian Virgel; and one great-great-grandchild, Makenna Stoneberg. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, L.T. (Son) Martin; and one great-grandson, Matthew Virgel.
