FRANK TUMIS, 87, of Houston, Texas, died September 27, 2009 at Tomball Retirement Center surrounded by family and friends.Frank Tumis was born on August 16, 1922, in La Grange, Texas. His parents were Ludwig and Mary Bartosh-Tumis. He had two brothers, late Sidon and Jerome of Holman, a sister, Rita Mazoch of Weimar, and one sister, Judith who died as an infant. On April 15, 1949 he married Dorothy, who survives.Frank entered the United States Armed Forces on January 11, 1943 to Company L 30th Infantry. During his service, he received a WWII victory ribbon, good conduct medal, America theater ribbon and two bronze service stars. He was honorably discharged on April 15, 1946.He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 60 years; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Laurel Tumis; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Dennis Hermis; daughter, Janet Swinden and Donald Jacobs. Grandchildren, Jason and Margaret Hermis, Amanda and fiancée Chace Freel, Ami Williamson and Joe, Mandy and Rusty Weaver; great-grandson, Aiden Matthew Hermis and great-granddaughter, Abigail Taylor Freel.Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven.
