MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Major I.F. Miles, USAF rtd., 71, died Monday, Nov. 11, 1991. There are no services scheduled at this time. The body was donated to the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. Major Miles, born in Hunt County, Texas, moved to Deaf Smith County, Texas, in 1925. He attended schools in Hereford, Texas, and graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. He entered the military in 1940 and served in the field artillery until 1941 when he transferred to the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a heavy bomber pilot in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired at Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery. Survivors include his wife; a step-daughter, Jill Armstrong of Lubbock, Texas; a stepson, Dr. Bill Billington of West Point, Miss.; his mother, Mrs. E.B. Miles of Hereford; a sister, Mrs. L.L. Baker of Childress, Texas, and four brothers, former Staff Sgt. Wallace H. Miles of the Air Force of Holiday, Texas, James M. Miles of Huntington Beach, Calif., Gene Miles of Santa Ana, Calif., and Francis Miles of Peculiar, Mo. (Published in Amarillo Daily News, November 13, 1991)
