Bio
Ruth was born the second of six children on September 3, 1923, in Rice's Crossing, Texas near Taylor to John J. and Victoria Miskeska Stiba. As the oldest daughter, she helped care for the younger children. She graduated from Coupland High School and Nixon Clay Business School in Austin, Texas. She worked for several banks including Austin National and Texas State and then worked for the City of Austin Tax Office until her retirement. She was given the nickname "Toots" by her brother John, a name that would stick for the rest of her life. She enjoyed dancing throughout her life and still took a twirl on the dance floor with her long-time friends up until the final weeks of her life. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and her family loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Geist; her brothers John Stiba and Ernest Stiba, Sr.; and her sister Thelma Boudny. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sisters, Lydia Kasper of Taylor, Texas; Inez Schrader and husband, Don of Austin, Texas and sister-in-law Dorothy Stiba of Taylor, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were her nephews Ernest Stiba, Jr., Alfred Boudny, Jr., Alan Boudny, Alton Boudny, Steve Schrader, Mike Schrader, Wayne Schrader and Michael Schrader II. Honorary Pallbearers were nieces Kathy Waters, Janice Weber, Carol Bullion, Debbie Lange, Sharon Talasek, Vicky Porterfield, and Jeanie Postell. For the last eight years, Ruth resided independently at Englewood Estates with much love and assistance from her sister Inez Schrader. Special thanks to the staff of Englewood and especially Teresa with Elder Assist. We will miss you Aunt Toots!
