Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Friday, 22 December 1922 Mrs. Mary Jane Lacy, wife of George W. Lacy, passed away at her home near Murphy (sic), Neb., at about 11 o'clock Thursday evening, death resulting from old age and resultant complications. She was aged 79 years, 3 months, and 29 days. Surviving her, besides her husband, are several children. Funeral services will be held from the home on Saturday afternoon at 11 o'clock, burial taking place in the Phillips cemetery. ============ Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Friday, 5 January 1923, page 11 County in Brief - Phillips Obituary Mary Jane Parker was born in Clinton county, Ohio, September 1st, 1843 and died at her home in Murphy, Nebr., December 21, 1922. she had passed the three score and ten years allotted to mankind by 9 years, 2 months and 21 days. On September 22, 1864, she was wedded to George W. Lacy in Warren county, Ia. Their home was blessed with eight children, one of which died in infancy. Those living are: Mrs. Ida Devore, Mrs. Norma England, both of Phillips, Nebr.; William Lacy, of Sargent, Nebr.; Mrs. Jane Scott, of Loup City, Nebr.; H. A. Lacy of Broken Bow; G. D. Lacy and N. F. Lacy, both of St. Paul, Nebr. Besides these three daughter and four sons, she leaves to mourn her departure her aged companion, twenty-four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Grandma Lacy, as she was generally called, united with the Baptist church in early life and lived a faithful and consistent Christian life until her death. The funeral was held at her home Saturday afternoon, Rev. Bankson officiating. The Phillips quartet sang several beautiful hymns. She was laid to rest in the Phillips cemetery.
