William Donald Wiscomb, born June 14, 1917 to Clara Kasteler and Alfred Donald Wiscomb, died November 25, 2001 in Salt Lake City. Educated in Salt Lake City schools. Served five years in Army Air Corp during World War II. Served an LDS mission to South Africa. Bishop of the Edgehill Second Ward, where he was especially loved by the youth. Well-known in the sports world, especially softball, pitching several no-hit, no-run games, and at seventeen years old participated in the National Championship games in Chicago. He played ball until he was sixty-two years old. He was very friendly and outgoing and always met someone he knew, or knew him, wherever he went. He was a salesman and manufacturer's representative in the heating and air conditioning field for many years, receiving many awards. He was often referred to as a "born salesman." He was a master craftsman, using his hands to create many beautiful things which are enjoyed and treasured by his family and friends. He built a second story apartment for his daughter, which was truly a labor of love. His greatest accomplishment and enjoyment was his family. He enjoyed being in their presence and sharing a never ending love. He is survived by his wife Rhoda Cutler Wiscomb; daughter Nan Mead (Bill); daughter Pat Horsley (Rolfe); and son Don Wiscomb (Jill) along with fourteen grandchildren (one currently serving in the Italy Padova Mission) and three great-grandchildren, with two more coming. Bill was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2001 in the Edgehill First Ward Chapel, 1750 South 1500 East. Friends may visit on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, and 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
