Bio

Dwaine Alvin Michalski, age 69, died on November 21, 2011. He was born on a farm in Sherman County, NE, on January 4, 1942. He attended grade schools in Sherman, Howard, and Valley Counties and graduated from high school in Burwell, NE, in 1960. Dwaine served in the Army Security Agency from 1961 to 1963. He was stationed in Chitose, Japan for two years. He married Evelyn E. Bilka on May 7, 1966 at St. Mary's Church in Elyria, NE. They lived in Lincoln and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church for 27 years. They moved in 1993, becoming members of North American Martyrs Catholic Church in Lincoln where Dwaine volunteered at the school and served as an acolyte. Dwaine and Evelyn enjoyed 45 years together. Dwaine worked as a computer programmer/analyst and retired in 1997. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, music, bowling, fishing, computers, photography, gardening, and woodworking. He taught himself how to play the button accordion in 2009. Dwaine will be remembered as an excellent example of a strong, gentle man who was a wonderful neighbor and friend. He is survived by his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason Michalski of Justin, Texas, Darwin and Delia Michalski of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Collin Michalski of Texas and Jake, Wade, Alivia and Maria Michalski of Lincoln; mother, Marie Michalski of Ord, Ne.; two brothers, Eugene and Olga Michalski of Ord, Ne. Terry and Emily Michalski of Kearney, Ne.; a sister, Virgie and Ray Hulinsky of IA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Kathy Bilka of Ord, Ne.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 26, 2011 at North American Martyrs Catholic Church in Lincoln, NE. Fr. Brian Connor will Celebrate. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation will be 9:00A-5:00P, Friday, November 25, 2011 at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A. Street, Lincoln 68510 and from 6:00P-8:00P at the church where a rosary will be said at 7:00 PM In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North American Martyrs Catholic Church or School.
