Bio

Maudie was the daughter of Joshua Brock and Mildred Tankersley of the Byrd community. She married Henry Howell Vinson of Rankin on 20 Feb 1918. They had the following three children: 1) Kathryn Juanita, b. 1921 2} Lena Jo, b. 1923 3) Clyde Thomas, b. 1925 OBITUARY (Ennis Daily News: Mrs. Howell Vinson, 25 years old, died at the Municipal Hospital Sunday morning at 4:20 after an illness of two weeks with Typhoid Fever. Mrs. Vinson was brought to the Municipal Hospital about one week ago from her home on the Todd Farm, her condition being critical from the beginning. Surviving are her husband and three children: Juanita, aged 6, Lena Joe, aged 4 amd C.T. Vinson, aged 2. Also five brothers, Jim and Joe Brock of Byrd, Henry Brock of Louisiana, Tolli Brock of Lubbock, and Earl Brock of Brownfield, and three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Lee, Mrs. Gerdie Leach and Mrs. Nellie Dent, all of Byrd. The funeral party left the Vinson home at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon and funeral services were held at Bardwell at 3 o’clock with interment in the Bardwell Cemetery under the direction of Lawrence C. Hanes, undertaker, with Rev. C. W. Harrison, pastor of the First Christian Church here, officiating. Active pallbearers were Hugh Edmondson of Waxahachie, Roy Vinson of Corsicana, Fred Clark, E. C. Hawkins, Ernest Raphael and W. C. Burford. Honorary pallbearers were Wm. Weatherford, J. W. Weatherford, Fred Abrams, P. V. Allen, N. J. Reynolds, Albert Reynolds, Robert Reynolds, Bob Moore, Dr. C. P. Cook, Dr. W. E. Campbell, C. H. Mosshart, Earl Shaw, Robert W. Hesser , John S. Cain, Bon Whatley, W. F. Templeton, E. K. Atwood, Harry Atwood and Ernest Slayton.
