Bio

Walter L. Husband, 82, a former Ava resident, Wednesday in St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis. He had lived in East St. Louis about 35 years. Mr. Husband was president of Husband-Ziebold Insurance Agency in East St. Louis. He was born July 2, 1881, in Jackson County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnston Husband. He was married Sept. 15, 1904, in Chester, to Nelle Gilbreath, who died in July of 1954. Mr. Husband was a member of Dean Lodge 833, AF&AM in Ava, the Scottish Rite Bodies of East St. Louis, and the Optimist Club of East St. Louis. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Tragnitz of East St. Louis, and a sister, Mrs. F. W. Bartlett of Long Beach, Calif. A daughter, Miss Mary Louis Husband, died in 1956. Masonic services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Burke Funeral Home in East St. Louis. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ava Evergreen Cemetery, with Rev. Lloyd H. Aud officiating.
