Funeral services for Connie Merle Donnell, 100, of Nacogdoches, formerly of Huntington, will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Reverend James O. Forrest officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery. Mrs. Donnell was born July 31, 1909, in Houston County, Texas, near Ratcliff, to the late Adele (Smith) and George Quinton Anderson, and died Sunday, August 2, 2009, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Connie loved and enjoyed her entire family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Much of her time after the death of her husband was spent crocheting, crafting items for her children and grandchildren. She also spent hours tending her beautiful flowers and plants, which was one of her special pleasures in life. She attended Odell Baptist Church, located in the Odell Community near Huntington. She is survived by her son, Sam Donnell, Sr., and wife Alice; daughter, Jerry Alford; grandchildren, Kenneth Edward Donnell and wife Alida, Billy Sam Donnell, Jr., and wife Sheila, Connie Delaney and husband Kelly, Joe Donnell and Diana Gunter, Penny Barchet and husband Bill, Royalene McEachern and husband Edward, Nicky Nichols and wife Kelly, and Kay Nichols; eighteen great-grandchildren; and seventeen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Irvin Donnell, on May 21, 1982, and by her daughter, Marie Shannon, on July 22, 2009. Pallbearers will be Joe Donnell, Billy Donnell, Kenneth Edward Donnell, Nicky Nichols, Brandon Delaney and Michael Delaney. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Huntington, directors.
