Margaret Alice Nuttall Nicol 1917 ~ 2010 With a light in her eye and a soft smile on her face- Margaret Alice Nuttall Nicol peacefully passed away on April 1, 2010 at age 92. She was born Oct. 30, 1917 in Provo, UT to William Albert Nuttall and Margaret Grace Greer. On June 26, 1936 she married John Murray Nicol in the Salt Lake City Temple. Their life together was a remarkable love story, timeless in its tenderness and devotion. They were married 71 years and welcomed the birth of seven children, 27 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and even several great-great grandchildren. John and Margaret's love endured and grew long after their children were raised and after John retired from Educational Administration in Alpine School District. Together they traveled throughout North America, Europe, the Holy Land, Egypt, and Greece. They cherished their faith in the LDS Church and they served in many callings all through their lives, culminating in a mission to Tallahassee, FL from 1977 to 79 and later as guides at the LDS Church Art Museum in Salt Lake City for six months and service in the Provo LDS Temple. She gladly offered time and energy to community service as well. Margaret was always committed to the welfare of her family. She was a beautiful seamstress and her family still treasures her many hand-stitched quilts, needle point and clothing her talented hands created. She also found pleasure in her relationships with her many friends in DUP, Yesharah Missionary group, Paideia Cultural Club, and Sewing Club. Her hobbies included doing temple work, writing histories, traveling, gardening, fishing, hunting, camping, studying the Scriptures and keeping up with current events. Music has been one of her great loves and she has participated in singing harmony in several trios, duets, quartets, and choirs. She was preceded in death by her faithful and loving husband John, her parents, three brothers and three sisters, her son; John Jr., her infant daughter Mary, Grandsons Nick Nuttall, Gregory Nicol and Brett Nicol, and Great Grandson Boston Leany. Her family wishes to extend thanks to the Hillcrest 4th Ward members and also Lifepath and Hearts for Hospice for their tender and loving care. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest 4th Ward Chapel, 400 East 800 South in Orem. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St. in Orem and also Friday from 11:30 to 12:30 just prior to the services at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Published in the Daily Herald, Provo, Utah, Internet Edition, April 7, 2010
