Bio
She was the daughter of Alonzo L. "Lon" and Mary A. Lively Killion. Her parents are buried in Woodard Cemetery. Vashti was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Elkhart She shares a stone with her husband, Grady B. Starkey Sr. Their daughter-in-law, Barbara Ann Hart Starkey , is buried in Roselawn Park. Vashti was residing in Palestine at the time of her death there. She was survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Starkey McCracken of Palestine, and Joyce Rowland of Tyler; three sons, Grady B. Starkey Jr. of Lake Palestine, Jimmy Starkey of Elkhart and Charles Lee Starkey of Lake Havasu, AZ; two sisters, Jewel Gunther of Dallas and Audean Killion Muskeit of Houston; two brothers, Ernest Clyde "Clyde" Killion of Palestine and Wren Killion of Palestine; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Her obituary was published in the Palestine Herald-Press, Thursday, 13 February 2003.
