RUSK - Graveside services for Jewell Mae Killion Guenther, 98, Mesquite, formerly of Rusk, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Welch officiating under direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk. Mrs. Guenther died Feb. 5, 2008, in a Dallas hospital. She was born Sept. 9, 1909, in Slocum to A.L. "Lon" and Mary Ann Lively Killion. She moved to Rusk in the early 1930s. She worked at Rusk State Hospital and was a member of First Baptist Church, Rusk, and choir for years. She was a member of Rusk Garden Club, Eastern Star, Rusk Chapter No. 79, and past member of American Legion's Women's Auxiliary Post 293. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Joseph Guenther. Survivors include daughter, Barbara Louise Kravitz, Great Falls, Va.; sons, H. Guenther, Deer Park, and Billy Joe Guenther, Mesquite; brother, Wren Killion, Palestine; sister, Audine Muskiet, Houston; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
