When Vergal Stanley Hoopes was born on March 27, 1930, in Rupert, Idaho, his father, Harlow, was 33 and his mother, Lettie, was 30. He married Janice Mae Kersler on July 18, 1955, in Maricopa, Arizona. They had two children during their marriage. He died on December 25, 1998, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 68.
