Jeston was the son of to Edward Lee "Eddie" and Cornelia Ardelia "Delia" Brown Sims. His parents are buried in Liberty Cemetery in Martins Mill in Van Zandt County. Jeston served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from Texas Power & Light Company as a foreman after 36 years of service. He shares a stone with his wife, Lois Marie Walker Sims, who he married 5 October 1946. He was residing in Palestine at the time of his death in a Tyler hospice. He was survived by his wife of 58 years; two daughters, Sharon Marie Sims Streetman of Charlie of Gatesville, and Brenda Louise Sims Withers of Aurora; one son, Roy Dwain Sims of Lake Palestine; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His obituary was published in the Palestine Herald-Press, Wednesday, 12 January 2005.
